Systema Framework: Structured Thinking Advances

Forget Microsoft. Forget Apple. Let’s break the rules and create something truly beautiful.

This is the new Systema Framework. Let’s look at definitions for each of the icons. I want you to note that putting this together even close to coherently is taking considerable time and I will be revising this post repeatedly.

Things I’ve learned:

  • I am abandoning the term entity for the term logos which is closer to the correct concept we are dealing with.  Logic deals with the logos (words) of reason versus the forms (things) of reality.
  • I have found that de Bono lead me to realize that a relationship or association is not the correct term for these connections. The correct term is “directive” because the connector has a source.verb.target structure. Sun Tzu would call it a command. Ultimately, all people are directors not actors.
  • The real genius of Zachman was creating a two dimensional framework where all his predecessors had only provided one dimension.
  • “To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” Reaction is induction. Action is deduction. Thus a bottom up inductive process involves:
    • Reintuition, Renegation, Reobjection, Reposition, Redirection and Recreation
  • While a top down deductive process involves:
    • Creation, Direction, Position, Objection, Negation and Intuition
  • The finer points can be debated.
  • I find the relational model is not best adapted to this framework. The associative model of data found at LazySoft is better equipped to meet the framework’s requirements.

Systema: MixThirtySix – New Greek, New Icons, New Colors

After pulling out a Latin and Greek dictionary during a phone call to my professional writer sister, I came to realize that John Zachman served us a horrible brutalization of Greek for terminology. Had he only looked at the Greek language with some insight he would have saved me considerable difficulty in correlating definition with application.

Johnny ‘s been messin’ wid our ‘eads, man.

Correcting that usage will be on my to do list.

Here, I am abstracting the framework by incorporating the correct Greek, abstracting the focuses by using polygon icons and abstracting the perspectives by using de Bono’s thinking color code:

There you have it, a completely new take on the Mix Thirty-six.

Hey, Aristotle, Six Unities! Hey, Plato, Six Polygons! Hey, de Bono, Six Hats!

Yes, after a day’s head banging, I switched when and where.

In the next post, I will be definining each of these icons. Now we can talk about System Logics, System Organics, System Mechanics, System Physics, System Cosmics and System Chronics with a sense that our terminology will migrate across disciplines easily if our audience has any understanding of Greek roots.

Perhaps there is No Grand Unified Theory

When R. Buckminster Fuller attempted to find the smallest solids that could fill space he made an interesting discovery.  He rejected cubes as unstable and found that not one solid, but two were required:  the tetrahedron and the octahedron.  The product of his work was the octet truss which he patented.

When we look at classical and quantum physics we deal with not one but two versions of reality.  The unobserved reality and the observed reality.  Unobserved reality is a tetrahedron composed of four unities:

  1. Energy
  2. Mass
  3. Space
  4. Time

Observed reality is an octahedron composed of six unities:

  1. Cause
  2. Observer
  3. Energy
  4. Mass
  5. Space
  6. Time

Each unity is composed of three dimensions.  Therefore, the unobserved universe is twelve dimensional and the observed universe is eighteen dimensional.  At least, that is my hypothesis.  The unobserved and observed universe join like the equilateral faces of a tetrahedron and an octahedron to create the universe as it behaves in an infinite matrix of octet space.

Systema: Aristotle and the Six Unities

    aristotle.jpg

Aristotle in his work Poetics defined what he termed, “the three unities”. The neoclassical form of these unities are defined as unity of action, unity of place and unity of time. Basically they were constraints placed on any dramatic work.

    1. The unity of action: a play should have one main action that it follows, with no or few subplots.
    2. The unity of place: a play should cover a single physical space and should not attempt to compress geography, nor should the stage represent more than one place.
    3. The unity of time: the action in a play should take place over no more than 24 hours.

These are excellent principles for the design of an interactive system. But considering the Six Hats, Six Coats concept I want to add three more unities:

    1. The unity of matter: a play should have only the props required by the actions.
    2. The unity of goal: a play should have only one moral.
    3. The unity of people: a play should have only the cast required to execute the actions.

So, there you have it. A modification of the neoclassical interpretation of Aristotle’s unities and another pillar in support of the Six Hats, Six Coats model.
