Religion: Reciprocitism: A New Command I Give You

infinity circles

Reciprocitism.

Reciprocity is the foundation of every religion.

Reciprocity states: “Do to others as you would have others do to you.”

Reciprocity does not work if you are a masochist.

If you hate yourself, you will hate others in the same way.

And so reciprocity in its current form is a curse to all of humanity.

Rights are permissions to love yourself.

Responsibilities are requirements to love others as you would have others love you.

So a new reciprocitic command must be coined:

“Love yourself and love others as you would have others love you.”

Evolution: We Are All The Fittest

phyla

When you look at the above phylogenetic chart you can see how the species are differentiated.  However, there is another thing you should recognize.  There is both an evolutionary tree and a chain of being.  Left wing scientists tirelessly try to deny the chain of being, right wing scientists relentlessly try to deny the evolutionary tree.  Every phylia that is alive today is alive because it is fit to be alive today.  We are all the latest innovation at the end of our branch of the single evolutionary tree we all belong to.  A bacterium is just as evolved as you are.  It has taken just as many billions of years for it to be fit to survive in today’s environment as you.  However, humans are the most evolved beings.  And evolution is continuing, we are not the end product, just the current version.  Our offspring, irregardless of species are better adapted than we are to deal with whatever the environment throws at us.  Our children are not our descendants they are our ascendants.

The biggest mistake the Chinese ever made was to worship their ancestors.  This destroyed the creativity of the Chinese people.  We, the entire world must worship our children and apologize to our children for the mistakes we make.  We must not burn our money to provide for our ancestors in heaven.  We must invest our money into the future of our children.  We must not hold elaborate funerals, we must celebrate every birth.  Not our place in death in the past, but the place of our children in the future must be our goal and our heaven.

As Desiderata says, “You are a child of the Universe.  No less than the stars and the trees, you have a right to be here.”

Our responsibility is to recognize everyone and everything else has a right to be here, too.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Jared Diamond: Societal Collapse

Vodpod videos no longer available.

more about “Jared Diamond: System Collapse“, posted with vodpod

If you listen carefully to what Jared Diamond is saying in the TED video above, he is describing not a five part, but a six part power curve into a systemic singularity. This has been one of the core themes of discussion of this blog.  We all seem to be too close to our problems to see the commonality.  The interrogatives come into play here:

  1. Goals
  2. People
  3. Functions
  4. Forms
  5. Times
  6. Distances

Times and Distances being the basis on which the higher orders are built.

When we look at the recent economic “crisis” we see 300 trillion in currency circulating and roughly 1 trillion to 2 trillion shifting suddenly and unexpectedly.  We witnessed a systemic collapse, a singularity, a tipping point, a power curve, an exponential change, a phase transition or whatever label you want to call it.  These have been happening everywhere since Time and Distance began in different contexts and orders both in human and non-human systems.

What Jared Diamond and other alarmists are implying is that human society is now a system approaching its final singularity in this century on this planet.  We are implying that today we are experiencing a less than one percent crisis on a power curve into a singularity.  How many more iterations will the global system withstand?  Will humanity make the step into space successfully before we experience a global dark age?  How will the six or more factors in the power curve play out?

The truth to me appears to be that power curves whether they play out or not result in either a systemic climax or anti-climax followed by a systemic collapse.  Would it not be better if we experienced a systemic climax that led to us expanding into the solar system?

Systemic collapse seems to be the fashion of this generation.  Every generation looks with fascination at its own youth, maturition, reproduction and acceleration into mortality.  Some die early, some die late, but all die.  It is an irrevocable law of nature.  It is not about self-interest.  It is about what self-interest is defined as.

Ten Rights and Ten Responsibilities

I would expect of the leader of my nation:

  1. Universal Clean Air and the Responsibility of Non-smoking
  2. Universal Clean Water and the Responsibility of Diet
  3. Universal Clean Waste and the Responsibility of Hygiene
  4. Universal Healthcare and the Responsibility of Exercise
  5. Universal Habitat and the Responsibility of Shelter
  6. Universal Security and the Responsibility of Safety
  7. Universal Belonging and the Responsibility of Love
  8. Universal Education and the Responsibility of Profession
  9. Universal Governance and the Responsibility of Leadership
  10. Universal Moral Law and the Responsibility of Reciprocity

All of the above, Open, Transparent and Participatory.

Is Barak Obama up to delivering this to the United States of America? Has any country come close?
