I have been looking at the Platonic Solids and thinking about how they correlate to the five senses. I thought about the left and right hemispheres of the brain and realized that each of the Platonic Solids should be truncated to represent the right hemisphere. Now I had ten solids to work with. I worked backward from this and recognized I had to create a separate left right pairing of each of the senses to represent the brain correctly five on the left and five on the right. I have to create pairs of senses, trios of senses, quartets of senses and a quintet of senses. This is because these are ways we learn. We learn most when our senses are learning as a quintet.  This is why complete immersion in the environment we are to learn about is so effective.

This is a major revision of all my previous work.  However, I feel it provides a much more robust sensory model.

Isaac Newton’s legendary statement was the premise of my new design.  I saw there were five Platonic Solids and as a reaction they would produce the five Truncated Platonic Solids.  This would influence all the components of the Solids.

Radeons.  They are radical emissions.  These are based on the number of polytopes in the Platonic Solids.  These are your right  origins.

Ideons.  They are Ideal emissions which are temporal radical emissions.  These are based on the number of polytopes in Truncated Platonic Solids.  This is your left percetual spatial origin.

Audeons.  They are audal patterns.  These are based on the shape of the faces of the Platonic Solids.  This is your right temporal plane.

Mudeons.  They are musical patterns which are temporal audal patterns.  These are based on the shape of the Truncated Platonic Solid truncation faces.  These are your left temporal planes.

Nadeons.  They are nasal intensities.  These are based on the angles of the Platonic Solids faces.  These are your right parietal arcs.

Gudions. They are gustal intensities which are temporal nasal intensities.  These are based on the angles of the Truncated Platonic Solid truncation faces.  These are your left parietal arcs.

Mates are Tadeons.  They tactal points.  These are the number of intersectin edges for each Platonic Solid’s polytope.

ReMates are Bodeons.  They are Basal points which are temporal tactal points.  These are the number of intersecting edges for each Truncated Platonic Solid’s polytopes.

The pyramids contain the space of the radeons combined with the audeons.  Obtuse triangular pyramid, Right square pyramid, Right triangular pyramid, Right pentagonal pyramid, Acute triangular pyramid.

Ideo

Imadeons.  They are imadical solids.  These are a cound of the number of faces on the Regular Solids.

  4. BLUE: TONGUE: PARIETAL LOBE: Complex sensory information from the body is processed in the parietal lobe, which also controls the ability to understand language.

Programming: A Great Seed Idea

I just came across a new blog, SysFunk by blackjack87, where a fledgling idea is taking shape:

Abstract

Entitys are essentially living, growing, software programs. They have urges, a nature, skills, an environment, and relationships; they are bound by their nature, environments and urges. They are governed holistically by an anthropological philosophy by means of adopting such familiar natural survival characteristics as adaption, and regeneration.

This is not a novel idea, even Turing experimented with artificial life, however it is novel for social networks and bioinformatics.  Entities in social networks have characteristics very similar to what this abstract describes and the reason why I believe organisms are a product of natural laws in network behavior.  There is a great deal of unexplored territory.  Blackjack87 has some work cut out for him, but if he pursues it, I will follow with interest and help where I can.

If you listen carefully to what Jared Diamond is saying in the TED video above, he is describing not a five part, but a six part power curve into a systemic singularity. This has been one of the core themes of discussion of this blog.  We all seem to be too close to our problems to see the commonality.  The interrogatives come into play here:

  1. Goals
  2. People
  3. Functions
  4. Forms
  5. Times
  6. Distances

Times and Distances being the basis on which the higher orders are built.

When we look at the recent economic “crisis” we see 300 trillion in currency circulating and roughly 1 trillion to 2 trillion shifting suddenly and unexpectedly.  We witnessed a systemic collapse, a singularity, a tipping point, a power curve, an exponential change, a phase transition or whatever label you want to call it.  These have been happening everywhere since Time and Distance began in different contexts and orders both in human and non-human systems.

What Jared Diamond and other alarmists are implying is that human society is now a system approaching its final singularity in this century on this planet.  We are implying that today we are experiencing a less than one percent crisis on a power curve into a singularity.  How many more iterations will the global system withstand?  Will humanity make the step into space successfully before we experience a global dark age?  How will the six or more factors in the power curve play out?

The truth to me appears to be that power curves whether they play out or not result in either a systemic climax or anti-climax followed by a systemic collapse.  Would it not be better if we experienced a systemic climax that led to us expanding into the solar system?

Systemic collapse seems to be the fashion of this generation.  Every generation looks with fascination at its own youth, maturition, reproduction and acceleration into mortality.  Some die early, some die late, but all die.  It is an irrevocable law of nature.  It is not about self-interest.  It is about what self-interest is defined as.

Science: Know “Why”

I am currently taking a break to read James D. Watson’s new book, Avoid Boring People.

Here’s a quote dear to my heart and core to effectively using the Six Hats, Six Coats metaphor:

Knowing “why” (an idea) is more important than learning “what” (a fact)

World Almanac facts, such as the relative heights of mountains or the names of British kings, go you nowhere at Hutchin’s college. The essence of its educational mission was the propagation and dissection of ideas, not the teaching of facts often best left to trade schools. Why the Roman Empire had risen and fallen was much more important than the birth date of Julius Caesar. And why the European cathedrals were built mattered much more than their relative sizes. Equally unimportant were the details about the French Revolution when contrasted to the philosophical ideas of its eighteenth-century Enlightenment, whose emphasis on reason as opposed to theological revelation greatly accelerated the development of modern science. Likewise, details of Linnean taxonomy paled in significance to the idea of biological evolution, whereby all life-forms have a common ancestor. Better simply to know which books hold the details you will need than to overload your neurons with facts that later will never need to be retrieved.”

I’d like to add the following corollaries:

  1. Knowing “why” is more imortant than learning “who”
  2. Knowing “how” is more important than learning “what”
  3. Knowing “when” is more important than learning “where”

All this considered, James recognizes the importance of new facts leading to new ideas. He gives as an example Darwin’s journey on the HMS Beagle that led him to discover the geographical patterns of the distribution of species and the fossil record that led to his theory of the evolution of the species. “Sometimes a new idea can flow from old facts rearranged, but more typically it comes when new things previously unknown and unaccountable for under the old theory are introduced.” Induction has its place.
