If you look at my first ZenUniverse post, you will see a six column model.  However, the System International Units require seven columns.

Here is a table of two hemisphere intersections.  I am using Latin roots, but you will recognize many of the terms:

Here is a blank table you can print out and experiment with correlations and intersections of your own:

Perception: Geometric Sensory Scales

The following tables are something I have been playing with regarding sensory input, system international units, geometric scales and a consistent Latin terminology.  If some of the terms sound familiar it is because they are validly constructed Latin words.  The sensory system start at the top to bottom.  The scales start at the right to left. I think historically, such tables were created to create vocabulary.  The English language has abandoned this to its logical loss.  Double-click the table to see it on its own page.

Creative Commons: Proposed Protection Categories

logo-creative-commons

Right now, Facebook members are campaigning for Facebook/Creative Commons integration.

I fully support this.

I think facebooks credibility would go through the roof.

I think creative commons would become the defacto standard of content protection.

I think everyone on the web would exercise freedom of expression with more confidence knowing they own their expression.

However, I think creative commons should change its conditions to make it more accessible.

I propose the following, based on the International System of Units

who: anonymous/originator/derivator

what: unit/series/collection

when: once/duration/forever

where: private/group/public

why: loss/balance/profit

how: as-is/constructive/destructive

how much: one/two/many

That should satisfy everyone.

I have forwarded this proposal to Creative Commons.

button-3-175-when

button-4-175-where

button-5-175-why1

button-6-175-how

button-7-175-how-much

In an earlier post I created a set of button icons for my blog.

This exercise revealed to me a simple way to illustrate the model I have been working on.

Over the next several posts I am going to be introducing conceptual areas using versions of the above seven button icons.

For artists, I want to show there are a consistent set of metaphors.

For analysts, I want to show there are a consistent set of physics.

For designers, I want to show there are a consistent set of trends.

For engineers, I want to show there are a consistent set of structures

For servers, I want to show that there are a consistent set of processes.

For producers, I want to show there are a consistent set of deliverables.

For qualitors, I want to show that there are a consistent set of metrics.

All these button sets will make each button available as a PNG for copy and download.

All these buttons are protected by a creative commons license as noted in the left sidebar of this blog.

At the end of this series I will present all of the buttons sets as a whole set.

Hope you enjoy.

Universe: The Fabrics of Perception

https://i0.wp.com/www.historyforkids.org/learn/greeks/clothing/pictures/weaving.jpg

I am working with the Latin language and it is helping me to classify my thoughts more effectively by understanding historical correlations in meaning. For example matter was considered a fabric. The term for light, “lume”, comes from the term loom which alludes to textile manufacture. In fact all of the textile terms merge with geometry where they were practically applied.

WEAVE: a fabric
POINT: a intersection
LINE: a line
ANG: a cut
HEIR: an area
VOL: layers
QUAL: a bundle

These terms have influenced our thinking for literally thousands of years. We still talk of the “fabric” of space, the fabric of time and “material” or whatever. We are unintentionally applying a metaphor. Yet it is a metaphor that has served us well.

At this point I present a scale that I have arrived at for human sensory perception.

I posted all of the above, because I believe that classification is underrated. If we spent more time thinking about the aesthetics of our classification language, which is presently total crap, we might make more discoveries.

How much do we conceal from ourselves because we deceive ourselves into thinkng a dogmatic classification system won’t bear fruit.

Have you ever seen this guy?

https://relationary.files.wordpress.com/2007/11/mendeleevphoto.jpg

He beat his brains out letting the data talk to him and came up with this:

Periodic Table

When Dmitri Mendeleev created this table to describe periodic behaviour of the elements, many of the elements had not been discovered. However, the table projected what the properties of those elements would be making the search much easier.  Dmitri also was very good at making Vodka.

As I have discussed there are Satrice, Fratrice, Patrice, Natrice, Matrice, Sortrice and Datrice networks.  Each of them classify in different ways.  Understanding these networks and their classification are the road to new discoveries.  Networks are classification systems.

I just saw this in the New York Times:

knowledgemap

It is called a “Knowledge Map”.  It is a plot of the link clicking behaviour of a scientific community.  Not what they say is important, but where they are going that they think is important.  From this information it may be possible to reorganize knowledge to make it more accessible to everyone.

And that is what we are all here for getting and giving access.

“Tao can Tao not Tao”

Lao Tzu

I have been looking at the Platonic Solids and thinking about how they correlate to the five senses. I thought about the left and right hemispheres of the brain and realized that each of the Platonic Solids should be truncated to represent the right hemisphere. Now I had ten solids to work with. I worked backward from this and recognized I had to create a separate left right pairing of each of the senses to represent the brain correctly five on the left and five on the right. I have to create pairs of senses, trios of senses, quartets of senses and a quintet of senses. This is because these are ways we learn. We learn most when our senses are learning as a quintet.  This is why complete immersion in the environment we are to learn about is so effective.

This is a major revision of all my previous work.  However, I feel it provides a much more robust sensory model.

Isaac Newton’s legendary statement was the premise of my new design.  I saw there were five Platonic Solids and as a reaction they would produce the five Truncated Platonic Solids.  This would influence all the components of the Solids.
