Web 3.0: Debunking the Open Source Myth

We have all been had.  There are thousands of companies out there  telling us our content has no monetary value and then using our sweat to make billions on advertising and claiming they are benevolently providing us a service.  THERE IS NO BENEVOLENCE ONLY BUSINESS.

Every post you put on the web has value.  Every keystroke, every mouse click has value.  Corporations are using it to advertise, analyze markets, sell to you.  YOU SHOULD HAVE A PIECE OF THE MONETARY PIE.

The problem is not technology.  Sending payment to everyone is damned easy.  The problem is middle men.  MIDDLE MEN MAKE THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING ARTIFICIALLY HIGH.

We can all profit.  Everything we do has worth.  We can charge for everything.  Everytime someone looks at our content we can profit.  DEAL DIRECT TO LOWER THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING, DON’T GIVE YOUR WORK AND CONTENT AWAY FOR FREE.  THE WEBSITES DON’T.  THE CARRIERS DON’T.

You have worth.  You have value.  YOU MUST BE PAID WHEN YOUR CONTENT IS DISPLAYED.

Stop being a Tube.  Stop being a Twit.  Stop being a Face.  Stop being a Space.  Stop Digging.  Stop Gurgling.  You are not children any more.  YOU ARE THE KEY.  ENJOY CAPITALISM.  DEMAND PAYMENT.

There is a Fair Global Price for everything and it is not Open Source.  THE COMMONS WILL ALWAYS BE A TRAGEDY.

ONE WORLD, FIRST WORLD.

Internet: The Banquet

I have been thinking about why we pour our heart out onto the web for “nothing”.  The reality is it is not for nothing.  We are all seeking something in exchange for our efforts as as abstract as that something may be.

You are putting something onto the Internet Table in order to take something from the Internet Table.

If you are not working for remuneration, you are advertising.  You are seeking intangibles that–in some way–will lead to a transaction.  You are creating a brand.

All the “OpenSource”.  All the blogs, all the webpages, all the sites, all the comments, all the games–everything–is about building your brand.

It is about “You, Incorporated”.

You want to ultimately acquire the world you want.

You want to rule your world.

There is a word for it: “Anarchy”

You each have no leader, but yourself.  Yet we work together in Synergy.

We are working toward a world of the Independent Global Professional.

If you are not selling something, you are advertising something.

Satire: Good and Yahoo

I have completed my reading of the fourth part of Gulliver’s Travels, “Journey to the Houyhnhnms”, and with it completed Jonathan Swift’s book. In this part Gulliver encounters a species of horses calling themselves “Houyhnhnms”, who are guided in their lives by reason and virtue, as well as a species of humans called “Yahoos”, who are guided by illogic and vice. As Gulliver comes to acquaint himself with these two species he realizes that he himself is a Yahoo, as are all humans, and finds himself not wanting to leave the company of the Houyhnhnms. However, reason dictates that he return to the Yahoos of England and the Houyhnhnms exhort him to do so.

This part is not only a satire of humanity, it is a satire of nature. No one in Jonathan’s time or our own with any knowledge of nature, of which humanity is part, would for a moment declare nature a slave to reason and virtue or free of illogic and vice.

Stepping back for the broader view, Jonathan’s book is interesting in that it criticizes all aspects of society, however he never directly criticizes religion. He instead talks of reason and virtue; of friendship and benevolence; never of god and god’s will; never of faith and obedience. In fact, the only reference to European religion is architecture and the inquisition. And perhaps that is all that needs mention.

Of course reading the work that coins the word Yahoo and directly associates it with the word “evil” makes for an interesting contemporary interpretation of our search engine landscape. If we used the term Yahoo in the same way as used by Jonathan Swift, “Don’t be Yahoo”, would be grammatically correct.
